What is a record label?
Record labels are companies that manufacture and distribute recorded music and promote that music. There are two kinds of record labels independent and major labels Indie record labels are independent companies that do not have a corporate backer. Major labels are large corporations often owned by a parent company, like Sony.
Different record labels:
22 Records: Founded by Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and artist manager Jordan Feldstein, 222 Records includes artists such as Rozzi Crane.
Aftermath Entertainment: This t is a record label founded in 1996 by artist, producer and entrepreneur, Dr. Dre. Throughout the years Aftermath has included artists such as Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and Jon Connor as well as 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, and Game, among many others. Aftermath albums have earned numerous RIAA certificates of platinum or higher throughout the years.
Division1: This is a US-based record label founded by Rico Love. The label has a joint venture with Universal Music Group’s Interscope Records.
The Verve Music Group: This is home to established adult artists
and a growing roster of new artists. Under the leadership of 16-time
Grammy-winning producer and artist David Foster, the label has expanded its
mission to include a broad array of artists—from classical crossover vocalists
to progressive pop. The Verve Music Group has recently released recordings by
superstars such as Rod Stewart and Andrea Bocelli.
Record labels indie genre:
